Or Mars Director, Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program Or Mars is the Director of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program. Or plays the central role in interpreting the program, recruiting applicants, staffing the fellowship selection committee, engaging and deploying faculty, developing leadership institutes, mentoring fellows and representing the program to the larger community. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Los Angeles, Or has worked in many different Jewish organizations (the JCCs of Los Angeles, the Brandeis-Bardin Institute, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, Jewish Family Services and the JCC of Manhattan) and has studied at various Jewish organizations (Hebrew University, the Pardes Institute, the Hartman Institute, The Jewish Theological Seminary). He also serves as a volunteer leader in the Columbus Jewish Community as the Board Member for the Columbus Jewish Day School, as a founder and organizer of Minyan Nedava, and as a member of several committees of the Columbus Jewish Federation.
Or holds masters degrees in social work (University of Southern California) and Jewish Communal Service (Hebrew Union College) and is an alumnus of the Wexner Graduate Fellow Program and the Jerusalem Fellows. Or has served in his current position since 2006. From 2000-2006 he served as the Executive Director of North Carolina Hillel during which time he helped students and the North Carolina Jewish community create awesome Jewish life on campus. In 2004 he was awarded the Richard M. Joel Exemplar of Excellence Award – a top honor in the Hillel profession. Or and his wife, Rabbi Sharon Mars, have three amazing children - Adi, Tova and Tal.
