The nearly 1500 alumni of the Wexner Heritage Program are top lay leaders at the local, national, and international level. They may be president of their synagogue, Federation or JCC; they may have founded a day school or chair its annual campaign. They may be on the board of UJC or JDC, chair the American side of the Ethiopian aliyah effort, or head their city’s Partnership 2000 initiative. They may see the need for a new organization and start it; they may see the need for a new way of doing something in an existing organization, and they implement it.
While alumni of the Wexner Heritage program clearly are diverse, they share some important overarching values: collaboration, inclusion, pluralism, and above all, a dedication to Jewish text and tradition in informing their communal decisions.
They are linked together by an extensive network that can be accessed electronically or via a Foundation staff member. They look to each other for support, guidance, and ideas as they go about their leadership work.
There are 2 representative bodies of Wexner Heritage alumni: the Alumni Council and the Alumni Representatives.
The Alumni Council is composed of 20 alumni who are involved at the highest levels of local, national and international leadership in the Jewish community, and who serve in leadership functions and as a sounding board for alumni initiatives.
The Alumni Representatives is composed of one or more alumni from every Wexner Heritage community. Together with Alumni Council members, they meet regularly for high-level leadership learning. Additionally, they serve as liaisons and advisors to the Foundation in planning alumni programs.
