2019 WGF Alumni Institute
Wexner Summits: The Network In Action -
The Wexner Foundation started a new alumni program 3 years ago called “Summits: The Network in Action” to bring together top alumni across our programs (WSL, WIF, WGF, WHP) who formed working groups to address major challenges facing the Jewish and Israeli world*. These Summits, which are by application only, have yielded several initiatives that are going strong and looking to go to the next level. We have selected the most impressive projects among them and have invited their core team
members to attend a Summit Accelerator, a one-time gathering in Princeton, NJ, April 7 - 8, 2019. There are 30 project team members coming. In addition, we have invited 30 new participants – also alumni from across our programs. These new “consultants” are joining us in order to help workshop the 12 Summit Projects that have been chosen to participate. Consultants will be expected to serve as thought partners at the Summit Accelerator and join or continue to support (in some way) one or many of the projects presented.
*Our 3 Summits to date have been convened to address the following issues:
(Re)Imagining the Israel-North American Jewish Community Relationship (launched 2016)
Social Justice (launched 2016)
Civil Discourse (launched 2017
The Wexner Graduate Fellowship Mentoring Program will leverage the deep and diverse talent that has been nurtured by 30 years of the Fellowship Program. The program will provide a framework for continuing support and guidance of Wexner alumni, bolstered by content-rich, personalized learning. Through participation in this program, mentor volunteers will build coaching and supervisory skills that will help them lead more effectively in their professional and communal lives. Mentees will drive the relationship by working with their mentor to create mutually agreed-upon goals and expectations and will hold one another accountable to the highest level of informed, committed participation. Eligible mentors and mentees will be selected from the Wexner Graduate Fellowship Alumni Community.

In our first online course Rabbi Larry Hoffman will teach a 4-part series on what he calls "The Ultimates" -- the nodal moments in our lives when we are filled with wonder, gratitude, grief, fear -- and rely on Jewish ritual to enrich and comfort us. Even as Jewish leaders, we sometimes go through the seminal rites of passage in our lives -- birth, marriage, bar/bat mitzvah, death -- without a deep understanding of the history and range of interpretations of our central ceremonies and prayers. We bless our children or our parents without ever having really explored what these blessings really mean to us honestly and deeply as adults. Rabbi Hoffman will explore with us specific liturgical texts and what our life-cycle ceremonies teach us about Judaism's advice on living our lives. Enrollment is first come, first served and will be capped at 18 Wexner Heritage Alumni. There is a cost of $350 to participate, please click on link to PayPal to process payment.
Wexner Field Fellows and select Wexner Graduate Fellowship Alumni are invited to participate in a half-day convening for networking purposes, and a focus group facilitated by Rosov Consulting.
