Can AI help tackle something as entrenched as Antisemitism? Emerging research suggests that when thoughtfully designed, conversations between humans and AI can do more than inform—they can actually shift beliefs and correct misconceptions. Bots have access, after all, to vast stores of information — and thus the ability to push back on any crazy claims made by conspiracy nuts.
Join us for a conversation with Professor David Rand, a leading researcher at the intersection of psychology, misinformation, and AI. Rand uses tools from computational social science and cognitive science to study how people form beliefs, why they share false information, and what actually changes minds. His work combines behavioral experiments and computational modeling to explore how AI-driven dialogue can reduce conspiracy thinking, counter health and political misinformation, and foster more thoughtful engagement. After October 7th, it was natural for him to lend his expertise to combatting Antisemitism as well.
Previously on the faculty at Yale and MIT and now at Cornell, Rand brings both academic rigor and creativity to one of today’s most urgent challenges: how to confront falsehoods—and the harms they enable—at scale.
