Thrive Lab: Creativity

Leadership Intensives for WHP Alumni

The Topic

Guided through improvisation exercises we will build our CQ (Creativity Quotient) by setting a culture that honors play, builds on ideas, makes your partner look good, and frees us from our inner limiting voices.  We will also practice how to exercise authority without sacrificing empathy, so that we — in our behavior and the organizations we help run — promote visionary thinking, experimentation and problem solving, and cultures of trust and collaboration.

Goals

  1. “Min haMeitzar” We will leave our narrow places of harsh judgement, doubt and self-censorship to cultivate expansiveness rather than fear, reactivity and “same old” approaches.
  2. “Nase vNishma” We will learn by doing, practicing, laughing together. We will experience first and then unpack the neurology, psychology, and fascinating theories of how the mind gains agility, breaks through cognitive fixedness, and generates new ideas.
  3. We will add levity to our lives and make new connections with stimulating, talented, zeiss Jewish leaders, and give one another hope.

Faculty

Dan Milton Klein, a drama professor at Stanford University who leans heavily on improv as a modality for teaching leadership skills at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the d.school. Angie Atkins, Senior Director of Wexner Heritage Alumni, will also facilitate these sessions.
