July 2026/Tammuz 5786 Dear Wexner Community, In Jewish tradition, 40 years symbolizes a complete cycle of transformation. The 40-year period of our ancestors’ wandering in the wilderness represents the lifespan of a generation. This period of trial and endurance prepared the Israelites for the responsibilities of freedom across the Jordan River in the Promised Land. Self-determination in Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people, is the heart of Zionism. But the fact that others deny this right to Jews, and only to Jews, puts anti-Zionism and antisemitism on the same ground.
The Wexner Foundation is pleased to announce Class 33 of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program.
They offered me a job to build and be the rabbi of an online congregation. I remember sharing this plan with someone who said, “Okay, I understand what online means, and I understand what congregation means, but what the heck is an online congregation?!”
